Many important processes underpinning the complexity of the Great Barrier Reef have also been declining as a result of climate change, including reef building and recruitment. ![]() In addition to the decline in coral cover and other impacts caused by the bleaching events, ongoing declines have also been noted across a range of other attributes comprising the sites's OUV, as evidenced by the declining trends in loggerhead, hawksbill and northern green turtle populations and scalloped hammerhead shark, deteriorating trends in many seabird populations and possible declines in some dolphin species. While individual decisions and management approaches appear in themselves adequate, the cumulative impacts of many decisions, on top of the legacy impacts and impending impacts of climate change, are of concern. Other pressures cannot be addressed at the site level, such as climate change, which is recognized as the greatest threat to the Outstanding Universal Value of the site. Some of the activities causing a threat to the values of the site can be influenced by the management authorities, such as fishing and coastal development. There has been a further dramatic decline as a result of the 2016, 20 coral bleaching events. Regrettably, a number of values for which the Great Barrier Reef was inscribed on the World Heritage List have been declining significantly. ![]() The Great Barrier Reef, one of the earliest properties to be inscribed as World Heritage, is a global icon.

Then I introduced minimum weapon skill requirement for using different weapon types. ![]() So I decided to merge these four skills into a single skill called ‘Guns’. So these should require more training to be used, but with originally, it’s just as easy to spend points in rifles as in pistols. The latter will still be viable damage-wise in the late game and might bring additional utility however, for a character that wants to max out their pure weapon damage, rifles will be superior. Some weapons (assault and sniper rifles) will have naturally higher damage output than others (pistols, SMGs).I want to introduce different weapon classes gradually during the early game, but the player would be asked to invest skill points in a certain weapon class immediately which would often leave him with two options: waste skill points in the early game to be proficient in a weapon you might not use later or spend skill points only in the chose weapon class and struggle until you obtain that weapon.Originally, they each had their own skill, but after a while I realized that wouldn’t work well for two main reasons: ![]() The rest of the weapons mentioned above are the usual ranged firearms (though some will have energy based variants as well). I intend it to be a different kind of weapon from the rest of the ranged weapons one that makes up for its lower damage output with additional utility and shield mitigation. The last three are covered by a single skill – melee - which also includes unarmed combat.Ĭrossbow is a class of its own. There are essentially eight weapon classes in Underrail: pistols, SMGs, assault rifles, sniper rifles, crossbows, knives, sledgehammers, and miscellaneous melee weapons (such as a crowbar). Here’s a sample of what the new human models look like. With the old title I also got rid of the placeholder human and creature sprites - so no more blockmen and disproportionally large head quadrupeds. Of course, this isn’t the only thing I did in the past six months of silence. The new website is (or will be once DNS kicks in). While there is a greater, sort of background plot that concerns the nature of time, the game is largely about the Underrail itself - its inhabitants, politics, strife, dangers, mysteries, as well as the player’s place within all this. Secondly, I’ve decided to change the name of the game to “Underrail”, which is the name of the underground metro system the game takes place in. I promise to put more effort into providing info on the game’s progress on a more regular basis in the future. There have been some setbacks, but the development of the game hasn’t stopped. The variation in sharpness from the edge to the centre of the frame obviously has more to do with the lens than the sensor but overall the results from the OM-D E-M5 with the 12-50mm kit lens are very good.Ĭompared with the crops from the NEX-7 there’s variation from crop to crop, but overall no decisive factor that would swing it in favour of one or the other. The last crop from close to the centre of the frame is the best one with clearly defined fine detail and nice crisp edges. The OM-D E-M5 has no in-camera lens correction options but this could easily be fixed in the RAW file. Moving onto the third crop from the edge of the frame, the detail here is marginally softer and there’s also a little bit of red fringing on the window frame and drainpipe, indicating a degree of chromatic aberration on the 12-50mm kit lens. ![]() The lighthouse is reasonably distinct and the edges of the window frames are clean. The first thing to note is that the OM-D EM-5’s 16 Megapixel sensor produces crops that show a larger area with smaller details than those from the 24 Megapixel NEX-7 and D3200, but what difference can you expect in practice? After a bit of a lacklustre start with the first crop the OM-D E-M5 does a much better job with the detail in the lighthouse and the foreground windows and rooftops in the second crop. The NEX-7 was adjusted by +0.3 EV to produce the same exposure. The OM-D E-M5 metered an exposure of 1/1250 at f5.6. The camera was set to f5.6 in Aperture priority and the sensitivity was set to 200 ISO. The image above was taken with the Olympus OM-D E-M5 with the M.Zuiko 12-50mm f3.5-6.3 lens. The ISO was manually set to their respective base sensitivities: 200 ISO on the E-M5 and 100 ISO on the NEX-7 and D3200. ![]() Each camera was fitted with its respective kit zoom and adjusted to deliver the same vertical field of view.Īll three cameras were set to f5.6 in Aperture priority mode, stabilisation was disabled for this tripod-mounted test and tone enhancement features were left on the default settings To compare real-life quality, I shot this scene with the Olympus OM-D E-M5, the Sony NEX-7 and the Nikon D3200 within a few moments of each other using their best quality JPEG settings. Also, with other software you do end up paying about the same amount although in the name of 'upgrades' which you get free in case of RoboForm.Ĭoming to features, it comes with all that you can possibly imagine in a password manager application. Yes, that is little bit of a turnoff but the sheer ease of use this software provides is just wonderful. RoboForm - This is the most powerful password manager for Windows 8 and comes at a rather steep price of $9.95 for the first year and $19.95 thereafter each year. However, if you have a good password manager, you can just use its portable version – copy it to a pen drive along with your data (well, that is encrypted with strong encryption keys) and just install the browser addon or plugin on the cyber café computer and get all your data and you would not have to type your passwords and you would not have to worry about key loggers either! And now we dive into the list of software that help you manage passwords: Not only this, it can take quite some time to sync all your bookmarks and password from the Google servers to the cyber café computers because they are usually slower connections than normal home connections. As it goes, there are two problems with this – you cannot always trust the cyber cafes with viruses and key loggers and using firefox sync or logging into Google Chrome with your Google account can be risky as well. You need to get some job done online and your home PC crashes and you need to go to the nearest cyber café to get the job done. To explain the ease of use from the perspective of 'portability', let us consider a hypothetical situation: On top of that easy portability is one good thing. So if you have been using Chrome and never cared for password because Chrome managed it all and suddenly it refuses to start, you can have all those details in Firefox, Safari or Internet Explorer. One of the most useful features is that your details are available across multiple browsers. So why do we need a separate program to redo something which has already been done? The answer lies in two words – features and efficiency and these are the two words we will be dealing here! Sure Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox and the most hated browser Internet Explorer would be helping you remember passwords and filling out the forms for you. It goes without saying that you would be a member of many (and by that we mean a number you cannot keep track of) websites and that is where problem lies – because when you do not remember passwords, 'Forgot password' link is not always the fastest way you could have saved the day! Java vs JavaScript: What Are the Principal Differences? Last but not least benefit of knowing two or three technologies is that you can manage a team of coders working in different languages and bring more value to a project than a “monolingual” specialist. So, knowing many technologies makes it possible for you to stay ahead of the competitors and ensures upward mobility. One technology replaces the other and those languages that have been less sought-after suddenly become more rewarding than others. As a “monolingual” programmer, you significantly limit yourself to only a few roles in projects, while knowing two or three programming languages provides you with multiple career paths and lets you land a dream job.īeing proficient in more than one programming language lets you remain flexible and quickly adapt to technology shifts that happen in the programming world quite often. Today, many companies are looking for universal developers. The more knowledge and skills the programmer has, the more employment opportunities and career prospects he or she gets. Given the problems you want to solve with a project, you can pick up the language (from those you have at hand) that can surely help you with resolution. Similarly, programmers with two or three languages under their belt can build complex projects. Knowing more than one programming language can be compared to the work of a handyman, who has a bunch of tools with which he can perform various tasks. To facilitate your choice of the right language, I’ve collected some evidence on why Java is a good way to go if you already have JavaScript mastered. Why Should You Master Java if You Already Know JavaScript?Ĭhoosing the language to switch to is sometimes tricky, and coders are often looking for proves that the switch is worth making their effort. ![]() That is why the coders who know two or more programming languages and are constantly expanding their knowledge base are especially wanted among the employers.īecause knowing several programming languages is trendy today and I am often approached by my students with requests like “How long does it take to learn Java if I know JavaScript?”, I’ve decided to write an article covering that topic. IT is doubtlessly a rapidly changing field, and the only chance to remain an in-demand specialist is to always be in the know of all changes and keep up developing. ![]() In any console application (other types of applications are not supported).
